Worked example (this week's prices): an eligible BUDI95 driver who fills 160 litres of RON95 a month (within the 300-litre limit).

Saving per litre: RM4.62 − RM1.99 = RM2.63

Monthly saving: 160 × RM2.63 = RM420.80 compared with the pump price.

What it means for you

If you qualify for BUDI95 or BUDI Diesel, you pay the subsidised price shown in the tiles above until your monthly eligibility limit (quota) runs out. Weekly price changes only affect you if you fill up with RON97 or unsubsidised fuel, or go over your monthly limit.

Monthly eligibility limit

From 1 September 2026, the basic limit is 300 litres a month, shared between RON95 (BUDI95) and diesel (BUDI Diesel). Owners of pickups or 4x4s can apply for an extra 100 litres. The limit resets on the 1st of every month, and unused litres do not carry over to the next month.

How prices are set

RON97 and unsubsidised prices are set every week through the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), based on average market prices in the previous week. The Ministry of Finance usually announces them on Wednesday evening, and the prices apply from Thursday to the following Wednesday.

How to check your eligibility and remaining limit

Check it yourself on the official portal www.budimadani.gov.my or call the BUDI MADANI line on 1300-88-9595. You do not need to register: your MyKad is verified at the petrol station. Limit changes are made automatically, so ignore messages asking you to “apply for extra quota” through a link.
