Why prices fell
According to MOF, Brent crude is still above US$100 a barrel, but prices of refined petroleum products in the regional market began to ease during the APM calculation period. MOF attributes the fall to expectations of higher supply from China, supported by continued production in other Asian countries. In the medium term, it expects world petroleum prices to remain uncertain.
What it means for you
If you are eligible for BUDI95 or BUDI Diesel, you keep paying the subsidised price until your monthly quota runs out. This week's change only affects you if you fill RON97, unsubsidised fuel, or go over your quota.
For example, 40 litres of RON97 now costs RM192.00, compared with RM204.00 last week, or RM12.00 less. For 40 litres of unsubsidised RON95, the cost is RM172.80 instead of RM184.80.
According to MOF, at current prices the government bears a subsidy of RM2.33 a litre for BUDI95 (54% of the unsubsidised RON95 price) and RM2.97 a litre for BUDI Diesel (59% of the unsubsidised diesel price). The government expects to spend RM40 billion on fuel subsidies in 2027, as announced in Budget 2027.
SKPS and SKDS prices for transport vehicles
Petrol under SKPS (Sistem Kawalan Petrol Bersubsidi) stays at RM2.05 a litre and diesel under SKDS (Sistem Kawalan Diesel Bersubsidi) stays at RM2.15 a litre. According to the BUDI MADANI FAQ (in Malay), these are bought with a fleet card under BUDI MySubsidi for eligible public transport and goods vehicles.
Eligible Malaysians buy subsidised RON95 and diesel with their MyKad through BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel, subject to a monthly limit.
When next week's prices are announced
MOF usually announces the next week's prices on a Wednesday. Prices for 29 October to 4 November 2026 will be added to the Fuel prices this week hub as soon as they are announced, with the chart and price history.
