Since 1 Jan 2026, traffic summonses from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have used aligned compound rates. Special discount campaigns were replaced by the principle "The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay": the earlier you pay, the lower the compound. This guide explains the rates and how to check and pay your summonses yourself.

Compound rates by payment period

The Cabinet decided on the alignment on 17 Oct 2025, according to a joint media note from the Transport Ministry (MOT) and the Home Ministry (KDN). The new structure:

* The RM300 example was given by the Transport Minister (Berita RTM, 22 Oct 2025). The RM150 and RM201 figures are our calculation from the official percentages. Your actual summons amount is shown in the app.

These incentive rates do not apply to non-compoundable offences, such as having no insurance, no motor vehicle licence (LKM) or displaying a fake LKM. According to MOT, no reduction is offered for summonses not paid within 60 days.

How to check and pay PDRM summonses

  1. Open the MyBayar PDRM portal (mybayar.rmp.gov.my) or the MyBayar PDRM app.
  2. Choose to sign in as a Malaysian individual, a company or agency, or a non-Malaysian.
  3. Check your list of summonses and the current amounts, then pay online.

According to the portal, individual and company summonses can be checked and paid online without a service charge.

How to check and pay JPJ summonses

  1. Download the MyJPJ app and log in with MyDigital ID.
  2. Choose Semakan Saman (summons check) to see the status of your JPJ summonses.
  3. Pay through the MyJPJ app, the MySIKAP portal, or JPJ counters and kiosks.

The MyJPJ app also shows the expiry dates of your LKM and driving licence, and nearby JPJ offices.

What happens if you do not pay

After 60 days, a summons can go to court and the vehicle owner can be blacklisted. According to JPJ, blacklisted owners will find it hard to renew their driving licence or LKM (Berita RTM, 28 Dec 2025).

The 50% to 70% discounts from 1 Nov to 30 Dec 2025 were a transition period and have ended. If you receive a "special summons discount" message now, check the official apps first.

Beware of fake summonses

Check summonses only on MyBayar PDRM, MyJPJ or MySIKAP. Type the portal address yourself or download the apps from official app stores. Do not click "pay your summons" links in SMS or WhatsApp, and never give your OTP or online banking password to anyone.

If you have been scammed, call the 997 line as soon as possible so the accounts involved can be blocked. You can check a suspicious message with our Scam Message Checker.
